Veterinarian Dr. Dávid Zárecký
I am a vet who takes a holistic, sustainable and preventative approach. My career began in Slovakia, where I studied at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Košice. Even during my studies, I engaged intensively with innovative topics: my thesis on the angiogenic potential of mesenchymal stem cells deepened my understanding of regenerative approaches and modern therapeutic concepts – a foundation from which my patients continue to benefit to this day.
During my career, I have worked in Austria, Germany and Switzerland – including in Leoben (AT), at a supra-regional veterinary clinic in Oberkappel (AU) and, most recently, in Basel and Riehen (CH). These positions have given me an exceptional breadth and depth of experience in small animal medicine: from the structured assessment of complex cases to the reliable care of animals in emergency situations.
Key Areas & Strengths
- Clinical Diagnostics: Systematic, precise assessment – from taking a medical history and conducting a clinical examination to targeted imaging and laboratory diagnostics. My aim is to provide a rapid, reliable diagnosis that clearly informs treatment decisions.
- Emergency Medicine: Calm, structured response in emergencies, prioritisation based on urgency, clear communication and rapid stabilisation.
- Ophthalmology: Additional training with a General Practitioner Certificate in Ophthalmology – enhances diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, particularly for eye problems that are often underestimated.
- Prevention & Sustainability: Individualised preventative care plans, early diagnosis and treatments with a sense of proportion – effective, well-tolerated and easy to explain to pet owners in their everyday lives.
Dogs & Cats – Professionally grounded, individually tailored
Around 90% of my patients are dogs, yet I also have extensive expertise in working with cats. I care for both species with the same level of care, calmness and professional expertise. Every treatment plan is based on an understanding of the animal’s personality, its environment and the realistic possibilities available to the owners.
Approach
- Thinking holistically, acting with the precision of conventional medicine – evidence-based, structured and transparent.
- Communicating transparently – clear recommendations, options and prognoses, so that decisions can be made with confidence.
- Internationally proven – diverse clinical systems and team cultures have shaped my flexibility, decision-making skills and focus on results.
- Multilingual – German, English, Slovak and Czech for seamless communication.
Motivation
My aim is to care for animals competently, responsibly and with foresight – both in emergency situations and in long-term preventive healthcare. For me, it is not just about solving problems, but about maintaining good health.
