Oncological supportive therapy

For tumor diseases, we rely on a holistic therapeutic approach that strengthens the body, mind, and immune system – individualized, honest, and backed by over 40 years of experience.

Are you looking for ways to support your pet during a tumour disease?

Cancer in dogs and cats is now among the most common chronic conditions. Many pet owners search for options to support their animals with cancer, tumors, mammary tumors, lymphomas, or soft-tissue tumors – as a complement to conventional oncology for dogs and cats.

Alongside conventional treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation, integrative veterinary medicine offers a wide range of approaches to stabilize the animal’s regulatory system, ease discomfort, and maintain quality of life.

With more than 40 years of experience, we develop a personalized oncological therapy concept, including tailored nutritional guidance for dogs with cancer and feeding recommendations for cats with tumor diseases.

At the heart of our integrative oncology approach lie two key questions:

  • How can we strengthen the immune system in a targeted way so that it can actively defend against cancer cells?
  • Which metabolic and regulatory processes can be stabilized to promote well-being and reduce symptoms?

Why is oncology important for my pet?

Tumor diseases in dogs and cats are increasingly common – not only in older animals, but also in younger ones. The earlier a diagnosis is made and an individualized therapy is started, the higher the chances of positively influencing the course of the disease. Specialized treatment can make a decisive difference in significantly improving both quality and length of life.

Why our practice? What makes our treatment method unique?

Our practice has decades of experience in holistic veterinary medicine, particularly in supporting dogs and cats with tumor diseases.
We combine modern diagnostic methods of conventional medicine with naturopathic and regulatory procedures – an approach that provides clarity and orientation for many pet owners looking for complementary options in canine or feline cancer.

Our goal is to create an individualized, well-tolerated support plan that meaningfully complements classical oncology or – depending on the diagnosis – serves as a holistic alternative. Throughout this process, quality of life, stability, and an honest, empathetic assessment remain central.

Which Methods Can Be Part of Our Holistic Oncology?

Depending on the diagnosis and condition of the animal, the following approaches may be considered:

  • micronutrient-oriented support for cancer and chronic diseases

  • innovative therapies with state-of-the-art veterinary devices

  • laser and photobiomodulation to support local tissue processes

  • PRP methods and regenerative support for affected structures

  • nutritional counseling for cancer, adapted to metabolic needs

  • pain and stress reduction, including complementary naturopathic methods

  • energetic therapies from the 5-E™ system

  • holistic monitoring via DGT MEDICAL

Our Approach to Integrative Cancer Therapy – Realistic & Compassionate

Many pet owners want reliable, comprehensive support when their dog or cat is diagnosed with cancer. Therefore, we place great value on:

  • honest, transparent communication

  • individualized treatment concepts

  • continuous support, even between appointments

Conventional or alternative treatments? We guide realistically, not with promises.

We are not miracle workers – nor do we pretend to be. Many of our patients come to us when other paths have already been exhausted. For this reason, it is especially important for us to assess every case realistically and with empathy. We do not abandon any animal; we accompany each case responsibly and compassionately.

Our holistic therapy concepts are individually tailored to your pet. They may complement conventional oncology or, in certain cases, provide an alternative – always with the intention of improving tolerability, reducing side effects, and supporting quality of life. If it is medically justifiable, we do everything we can.

Many of our treatment strategies originate from innovative developments in human medicine. We do not generally exclude procedures such as chemotherapy or radiation; instead, we design an individual strategy for each patient that may include classical treatments where appropriate.

In exceptional cases, specific chemotherapeutic agents may also act as sensitizers for photodynamic laser therapy. This means that when chemotherapy is combined with laser light, medication dosages can be significantly reduced.

If surgical removal of the tumor is necessary, we often pre-treat the area with laser therapy to help delineate the tumor from healthy tissue. This may facilitate surgical removal and reduce the risk of recurrence or residual malignant cells.

Our Goal

With well-tolerated, holistic supportive procedures, we help your pet regain stability, strength, and quality of life – even during a tumor disease. Based on extensive experience, modern diagnostics, and existing medical records, we develop an individualized support concept for your companion.

Every tumor progresses differently; therefore, we cannot promise outcomes. However, you can rely on the fact that we will support your pet professionally and compassionately – including nutritional guidance, stress management, and daily care recommendations.

What Are the Advantages of Our Holistic Treatment Approach?

Classical oncology focuses primarily on tumor-directed procedures such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. These may be medically necessary but mainly address the tumor itself.

Our integrative approach additionally considers the entire organism – metabolism, emotional well-being, environment, and individual stressors.
The aim is to stabilize overall regulation, ease daily life, and support the body as best as possible throughout the illness.

This includes:

  • micronutrient-based nutritional concepts

  • energetic and regulatory methods

  • measures for pain and stress reduction

  • a calm, trusting treatment environment

  • active involvement of pet owners

Findings from human medicine show that factors such as stress, sleep, nutrition, and emotional security can influence resilience – these insights are reflected in our work.

How Do We Structure Our Treatment Possibilities?

Following comprehensive diagnostics – including laboratory tests, imaging, and energetic assessment – we develop a personalized support plan together with you. This plan reflects both the medical situation and the individual needs of your animal.

Depending on the tumor type and general condition, the plan may provide integrative care or supportive measures alongside classical oncology. Our focus remains on offering your pet the greatest possible stability and quality of life.

How Do We Support You Throughout the Entire Treatment?

You are not left alone with the diagnosis. We take time for explanation, conversation, and guidance – not only at the initial appointment, but continuously.

Between appointments, you can book follow-up consultations through DGT MEDICAL. Our online veterinarians know your case and your animal, and they assist you with questions, uncertainties, or adjustments to the therapy plan – quickly, compassionately, and with expertise.

Our Holistic Concepts – A Different Approach

In supporting tumor diseases, we rely on an integrative method that considers the entire organism. Our aim is to stabilize metabolic, tissue, and regulatory processes – always based on your animal’s individual situation.

We work with modern procedures such as regulatory laser therapy, micronutrient-oriented concepts, physiotherapeutic support, and energetic methods from the 5-E™ system. These approaches do not replace conventional oncology, but they can help ease the burden on the body and improve well-being.

An Example of Our Work in Cancer Support

Holistic support for tumor diseases always involves interconnected thinking: we consider nutrition, movement, metabolism, stress load, environment, and diagnostic findings. We aim to avoid additional strain and instead support the animal on multiple levels.

Our focus is on improving stability, vitality, and daily functioning – regardless of whether our support complements classical treatments or provides a fully integrative care approach.

Conventional or Alternative Procedures?

Our methods are based on integrative medicine, drawing from both conventional knowledge and modern complementary therapies. We do not exclude classical options such as surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. Instead, we evaluate how various treatments can be meaningfully combined to support your pet optimally.

Which methods are used depends on diagnosis, resilience, and the individual needs of the animal. Together with you, we create a concept that is medically appropriate and well tolerated.

Examples of diagnostic and therapeutic services we offer

PDT is a modern, locally acting therapy in which special light-sensitive substances are activated by laser light. This method can selectively target altered tissue and is used under veterinary supervision as a supportive treatment for certain types of tumours – gentle, tissue-sparing and individually tailored.

In situations of increased physical stress, the targeted administration of micronutrients, amino acids or antioxidants via infusion can be beneficial. These infusion concepts are individually tailored and are intended to specifically support cellular function and the regeneration of the organism.

This gentle, non-invasive light therapy can locally promote blood circulation, stimulate cellular activity and support tissue regeneration. We use it as a complementary treatment, for example in cases of pain, wound healing or movement limitations – including as part of holistic post-tumour care.

A balanced internal environment is considered essential from a holistic perspective. Supportive rebuilding treatments for the liver, kidneys, lymphatic system or intestines aim to relieve the metabolism and enhance the body’s regulatory capacity – especially after medication or intensive therapies.

These treatments use controlled electrical impulses to activate specific tissue structures. They are used, for example, to promote microcirculation or as supportive therapy for pain. Depending on the findings, we combine these applications with additional treatment methods.

Surgical procedures are also part of our practice’s range of services – from routine operations to the removal of certain tumours. We work according to the highest standards of anaesthesia and surgical monitoring, with particular emphasis on stress-free pre- and postoperative care.

How does the diagnostic process work?

We begin with a detailed medical history, taking the time to understand your pet’s individual background and current symptoms from a holistic perspective. This is followed by a thorough clinical examination, supplemented by modern imaging techniques and laboratory analyses when medically appropriate.

While conventional veterinary medicine often moves quickly toward invasive procedures, we focus on using only those methods that are as gentle, low-stress, and well-tolerated as possible. Whether and when a tissue sample is necessary is always evaluated carefully on a case-by-case basis, considering risks and benefits.

Our goal is to obtain a clear diagnostic picture without placing unnecessary strain on your pet.

If surgery becomes necessary during the course of treatment, any removed tissue samples are examined by a specialized laboratory to obtain an accurate cytological or histological diagnosis.

What happens if I decide against treatment?

That is completely acceptable.
Our role is not to dictate decisions but to provide medically sound guidance.
After a comprehensive history and open discussion of all options, you decide which path feels right for you and your animal.

For any treatment to be successful, one thing matters most:
That you understand and support the chosen approach – because every therapy is a shared process that continues at home.

What possible side effects may occur?

Our holistic supportive treatments are designed to be gentle, well-tolerated, and individually tailored. However, as with any medical intervention, side effects are rare but cannot be fully ruled out.

We inform you transparently about potential reactions, monitor your pet closely throughout the process, and guide you so that you always know what is normal and when we need to intervene.

What can I do to actively support my pet?

A great deal – because the most important part of recovery often happens in everyday life.

We provide guidance on:

  • individually tailored, gentle nutrition

  • calm, appropriate exercise

  • a structured daily rhythm with defined rest periods

  • a low-stress environment

  • emotional balance and social connection

  • hygiene, sleep quality, and time in nature

  • additional supportive measures for daily care

A loving, fear-free atmosphere has a measurable positive effect on animals.
Studies in human medicine show that a stable, calming environment can improve well-being and help treatments be better tolerated.
